Outdoor Clothing - Game Hide
Game Hide rivals or EXCEEDS any outdoor wear out there - PERIOD. I like it better than Cabela's Guide Wear, I thought I'd never say that. Game Hide is not a sponsor, I wish they were, their Storm Hide is simply the best rainwear ever made. The jackets are cut to fit "active" fishing, the sleeves are designed to not bind at all, it's unbelievable. EVERY jacket should be this good of quality. www.gamehide.com
Spinning ReelsThe new Shimano Stradic (non magnesium) is UNBELIEVABLE. The smoothness, light weight and drag on these new Shimano offerings have totally blown us away. The reel is so smooth it will cycle by just holding the reel seat and turning the reel in a circle. It's better than many $200+ reels were just this last year.
Vertical JiggingWe've become very impressed with all the ReelBait products, but the "Walleye Flasher" is becoming a "go to" bait for us. The small willow leaf blade is a great attractor with flash and vibration. The jig seems to do well with either neutral or aggressive fish. Just remember to cinch the knot so the jig hangs as level as possible! Last Year in Canada the Walleye Flasher accounted for 4 out of 5 fish over 11#'s for us. (The other was on a reef runner)
Take a Senior fishing!
We all know the old slogan of "Take a Kid Fishing". We are strong proponents of this, there is nothing better than to introduce a boy or girl to fishing. But let us not forget our elders! That elderly husband and wife down the street that hasn't fished in years, the retired mechanic that never had the time, or the businessman who was never interested until now. All of those folks could use a helping hand with starting or getting back into fishing. Maybe not as much hands on help, but some general guidance and advice about getting into fishing. Be it boy, girl, man or woman - the feeling you'll get when you take them fishing is still the same. Helping others enjoy this sport makes us all better anglers and people!
Rainwear
This has been printed and spoken many times, but we can't stress enough the importance of quality waterproof rain wear. This spring has been a cold and wet, a miserable year for us in the boat. Moisture and low temps have plagued us every time out. Because of this, we are firm believers in "you get what you pay for" with rain gear. We recommend biting the bullet so to speak and buying a quality rain suit that will last and keep you dry. Ones that have proven very effective for us are the Cabela's Guide Wear and their Cabela's Signature Series Rainwear, both have a Gore Tex liner and and outer layer that sheds water and wears tough. Either way, your money will be well spent, and you will enjoy dry and comfortable years on the water!
If you like Fireline try Ripcord from Cabela's. It wears better and keeps it color longer. Just make sure you use palomar knots with either product.
